The lettuce plants I started indoors and planted out in mid-March are producing salads now.

Fresh radishesRadishes

What’s a salad without sliced radishes? I also love to eat these on top of bread and butter!

First Asparagus HarvestAsparagus

My Mary Washington asparagus is so tender, I eat it straight out of the garden. A delicious, early-spring treat.

Meyer LemonsLemons

Yes, we still have a lemon or two hanging on from the tree we overwintered indoors. I have to admit I’m rationing them. I think I’ll save the last one for the first really hot day, when some homegrown lemonade will be best appreciated!

  1. Can you tell us more about your lemon tree? Your initial article led me to your blog. We keep ours inside during the winter. Wondering how you care for yours in VA.
